British Empire Political Satire

Has anyone ever wondered why Britain conquered the world for spices and then not use any of them?

I knew the British empire was evil, but to voluntarily eat haggis, pudding and gruel rather than any other food takes a special kind of villainy. Some say the British Empire’s atrocities were the Taiping Rebellion, the great Bengal famine, and the Highland Clearances,

but I think that jellied eels and black pudding should be talked about more.
